Rising stars of the new millennium, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Julia Stiles, made Down to You one of the most successful U.S. teen movies of the year 2000.

The partnership Snapper Films formed with Open City Films in 1999 already blossomed in the following year with the romantic comedy Down to You appealing to younger audiences. Taking place in the New York college circles and principally shot in San Francisco, the film was number one in the U.S. in its opening weekend in January 2000. In the United States, the film was distributed by the giant of independent film, Miramax.
